IMMORTAL VALUES
God's Virtues are Immortal Values |
·What is immortality?
·What do we mean by
immortal values?
·Can we attain
immortality?
·How do we attain
immortality?
·Is it possible for we,the
layman / common man to achieve immortality?
·Can we really preserve
the immortal values within ourselves lifelong?
·What is the source of
immortal values?
Man is mortal while his deeds/actions are immortal. The human
body dies but his name, fame and actions remain immortal.
Eg. Jesus Christ, Prophet Mohammad, Guru Nanak Dev, Gautam
Buddha, Mahavir – these are the true living human figures whom we all wish to
follow. We wish their actions to be imbibed within our lives.
Moving further, we find, Swami Ramakrishna Paramhansa, Swami
Vivekananda, Swami Yogananda and such more personalities – who all were in complete surrendrance to the Almighty. Their lives were handled directly by the Almighty.
These souls have left their so-named human bodies but their actions have remained immortal. Due to their great work, these human beings' names have become great and with time their names are said to have attained immortality.
It’s to be emphasized that it’s the names and actions which
attain immortality while the human bodies die / get turned into soil as a
result of their mortal nature.
Now, the question arises how do few people's names attain immortality.
As said earlier, it's the man's actions / deeds which attain immortality.
Few actions are mortal in nature which fade away with time while
few great actions become immortal due to their greatness. These great actions attain their great heights. These actions reach the zenith.
This happens as a result
of the VIRTUES (IMMORTAL VALUES) incorporated within these great actions.
Again, I emphasize,
Actions become great only when they incorporate the Divine Virtues and the Divine powers within themselves. Once the divine virtues are incorporated within our day to day actions, very easily and naturally all our actions become divine and we begin to represent God's divine virtues. Also, our actions start exhibiting divine virtues.
As discussed earlier, the basic virtues are - knowledge, peace, purity, love, happiness, bliss, power. These basic divine virtues are further diversified as - patience, cheerfulness, helpfulness, selflessness, etc.Immortal Values - Moral Values |
Virtues are the immortal values. Virtues never die with a person or creature.
At this point, I remember a poem that I studied in Class 9 - The Brook by Alfred, Lord Tennyson.
The most important lines of this poem say :
For Men may come and Men may go;
But I go on forever.
Brook is helpful, selfless and a cheerful river. It spreads happiness.
Even after facing many challenges and obstacles in its journey towards the brimming river, the brook does not give up. It gets angry sometimes but is always cheerful and happy. It spreads happiness in its surroundings and plays with the vegetation around it. It waters the fields and farms and bushes in its ways and gives life to fishes, plants and blossoms.
It is immortal as the journey of brook remains continuous but humans can't be immortal because one day their journey of life ends.
If a man has values (immortal values) like those that brook has (helpfulness, selflessness, cheerfulness, happiness )then he and his great work will remain immortal in the hearts
of millions of people.
There's a very popular saying -
“GREAT
MEN DO NOT DO DIFFERENT THINGS RATHER THEY DO THINGS DIFFERENTLY.”
i.e.
Great people perform the same activities, as done by others but in a very different
manner. Difference lies in the manner in which Great People perform the actions. Manner means - organized, simple and virtuous manner.
PRACTICAL IMPLEMENTATION OF IMMORTAL VALUES :
Good
people are always remembered, why?
We all
are well familiar with the answer. The answer is very simple – Good people are always remembered due to their good actions and good actions are a result of the divine virtues incorporated within such good and great actions.
Eg.
Suppose, some time back you met an accident. You were hurt on your knees, palm
and had some scratches on your face as well. A gentle person came up to you, helped
you reach the nearby nursing home, got your dressing done and dropped you at
your home as well.
Now,
being a stranger, he performed such actions out of his helpfulness nature - which is a divine virtue. With time, we may forget the person’s name, his
facial look but the "Action / Deed - helping you in time of utmost need" can never get faded away with time. So, it's proved that it's the person's actions which attain immortality.
Some
people say "Life is very complex".
But, I firmly and loudly believe and say-
“LIFE IS A VERY SIMPLE AND NATURAL PHENOMENON.”
So, let's continue our journey for exploring and re-discovering our LIVES.
