MORAL VALUES VS ETHICS



There is hairline difference between Moral values and Ethics. So, we need to be very focused while studying both of them and hence, differentiate very minutely. Few of the below mentioned points can be considered :

 Morals deal with what is ‘right or wrong’
Ethics deals with what is ‘good or evil’.

 Morals are general guidelines framed by the society. 
Ethics are a response to a particular situation.

 Morals is derived from a Greek word ‘mos’ which refers to custom and the customs are determined by group of individuals or some authority.
Ethics is derived fron a Greek word ‘ethikos’ which refers to character and character ia an attribute.

 Morals are framed by society, culture or religion.
1.     Ethics are chosen by the person himself which governs his life.

Morals  are concerned with principles of right and wrong.
Ethics stresses on right and wrong conduct.

There is no option to think and choose; one has to abide by these.
The people are free to think and choose the principles of their life in ethics.

Morals may vary from society to society and culture to culture.
Ethics remain the same for all individuals regardless of any culture, religion or society.

As such, Morals do not have any applicability to business; they apply over one’s life and form the principles of their lives.
Ethics is widely applicable in the profession, popularly known as business / professional ethics.

Morals determine what is important in one’s life.
Ethics determine what is right for a particular situation..

Every single individual has some principles which help him throughout his life to cope up with any adverse situation and these principles are known as ethics.
